Iodine Supplement / Potassium Iodide / SSKI
We try diligently to keep all product in stock for our website and for our Amazon store. If your order (or part of it) shows to be backordered on the website, you can still order the product and we will contact you via email to ask if you want a partial shipment or all at the same time or let you know if there are unusual delays. Regarding Amazon, we ship product to them regularly, but have no control over how long it takes them to put it "In Stock." If you order from them expecting Prime delivery, they will not ship until they have distributed the product to the warehouse closest to you in order to honor that two-day shipping commitment.
Your kit comes with instructions, but occasionally there are questions. Very simply, decide what strength you want, based on the chart on the back of the mixing instructions and use the included funnel to put the crystals in the included bottle. Use the included syringe to draw up the correct amount (see instructions) of distilled water and put that in the bottle. Put the dropper lid back on the bottle and gently shake the bottle to dissolve the crystals. Your solution is ready to use. For a 5% solution, simply use the small white scoop to put one scoop of the crystals into the bottle. Each scoopful adds 5% increments to your solutions (2 scoops = 10% and so on). Use the same amount of distill water for all solutions. Put the sticker on the bottle to identify the contents. Keep the mixed solution bottle in an area out of direct light and heat. Refrigeration is not recommended.
SSKI is Saturated Solution of Potassium Iodide. The elemental name for potassium iodide is KI. It may also be referred to as "super saturated potassium iodide" or white iodine.
Nope. The beauty of this kit is that you can make any strength that you desire. The FDA Daily Value for iodine is 150 micrograms (mcg) which is a very tiny amount. Many people feel that it is too little and prefer to use a stronger solution. A 5% solution at one to two drops per day is usually adequate for those people. The kit will make 20 batches of 5% solution so you won't need to buy any more for a long time. After mixing your solution, simply roll the top of the packet closed and use a paperclip or tape to close the packet airtight. Your kit box is a great place to store your unused KI packet and mixing tools.
When mixed following the directions included with your kit, each batch contains approximately 769 drops from your .05 ml dropper. Always use your solution by counted drops, never dropperfuls. Always add your drops to a non-alcoholic beverage such as water, coffee, juice or tea. Depending on the number of drops you use per day, you can do the math to figure out how long the solution will last for your particular use. Special note: The unopened packet has an indeterminate expiration so it's great for long term storage. Once you have mixed your solution, depending on the strength, your solution should be at its prime efficacy for a minimum on six months. For 5% solutions, there is no definitive expiration, but we recommend mixing a fresh batch at least once a year. For SSKI, the solution will begin to change color over time. It will start as a clear solution or have a slightly yellow hue. This is expected and normal. Over time, it will begin to darken as there are not preservatives in this product. It is still be fine for daily use, but we recommend that as it turns a dark amber (almost brown), to replace the solution as it has lost some of it effectiveness. This usually is about 7 months or more.
The short answer is no. We are not doctors or staffed with medical professionals so we are restricted by the FDA from diagnosing, treating or giving medical advice. Check out our Resources page (listed under "MORE" on the homepage top toolbar) for links to various articles and video from various sources that may be able to answer your questions. We are aware that there are numerous protocols being used with potassium iodide solutions and we may be able to give you contact information for resources on those protocols but we cannot do the research for you or advise you in any way.
The Refills 4-pack is simply designed for those who have already purchase a kit in order to keep their kit re-usable. The Refills 4-pack do not come with mixing instructions as those instructions are proprietary to the mixing kit. If you have your own bottle and dropper and want to make your own solution, you will need to do your own research on mixing it to SSKI.
